Fuel Reimbursement Program


1.  Only flights flown in compliance with the FAA Exemption will be reimbursed.
 
2.  The dollar rate of reimbursement will be $5.00 per gallon.
 
3.  Individual fuel consumption will be calculated based upon 6 GPH per 100 HP.
 
4.  No aircraft will receive more than 30 GPH reimbursement.
 
5.  Pilots must complete 2 PALS flights as Command Pilot to be eligible for the program.  Reimbursement will begin with the third flight.
 
6.  All legs of a given mission will be reimbursed (i.e. outbound leg to pick up patient, actual patient leg and return leg back to home base).  Distances will be calculated, straight line plus 15%.
 
7.  Cost for ground training (Mid Island Air Service @ Islip Airport) will be $100.00 per pilot, payable by the pilot directly to training facility.  Each session is anticipated to require approximately 2 - 2 ½ hours.  A logbook endorsement will be required at the completion of the ground training by MIAS.

Pilot Requirements for Fuel Reimbursement:


1. Must hold private pilot certificate or higher and an instrument rating
2. Must hold a 2
nd class medical certificate
3.  Must meet minimum experience requirements:
a.  500 hours total time
b.  400 hours as PIC
4.   Must complete the PALS pilot training program

Aircraft Requirements for fuel reimbursement:


1. Must have a Standard Airworthiness certificate
2.   Must be maintained by a certified mechanic
3.   Aircraft components must be within manufacturer’s recommended time
between overhaul.
